The YWPL is a backward-curved plug-in fan, meaning the impeller and drive assembly sit straight inside the AHU or fresh-air cabinet, mounted to the fan section rather than delivered as a cased blower. That saves the space a separate scroll and casing would take, and the airstream enters the wheel directly from the plenum side.

How it sits inside the unit
The backward-curved wheel is the efficient profile for medium-to-high pressure duties. On a plug fan there is no volute to convert velocity to pressure the way a cased centrifugal does, so the surrounding cabinet becomes part of the air path; clean casing sections and good inlet geometry matter when you fix the size. Because there is no separate casing, the fan performance also depends on the cabinet's inlet and outlet geometry, and a smooth approach section keeps the wheel working near its design point. The cartridge can be pulled out for service without opening the ductwork, which is why these units are popular inside supply and return air handlers.
