Why cleanrooms depend on controlled airflow
Cleanrooms run on controlled airflow. A sudden pressure drop or a load of fine particles can ruin a production batch or take a line offline. Midi Industrial makes the EC plug fans that keep that air moving, and we build them in our own factory. We are not a trading desk reselling whatever sits on the shelf.
Why EC plug fans fit cleanroom AHUs
Old belt-driven fans shed rubber dust and need regular tension checks. Our EC plug fans have no belts. The motor and impeller share one shaft, so there is nothing to slip, wear out, or release particles into the duct. In a room built to control particles, that removes a contamination source at the start.
Every model reads a 0-10V signal, PWM, or Modbus RTU over RS485. As the HEPA filter loads and resistance climbs, the fan speeds up to hold the same airflow and room differential pressure. You set the target, and the fan tracks it as filter conditions change.
Fan wall arrays with N+1 redundancy
For large cleanrooms we supply the fans as a fan wall instead of one oversized unit. In an N+1 layout, a single fan can fail and the rest ramp up to cover its airflow. The room stays pressurized while the unit is swapped out. The array also spreads air across the full filter face, which evens out face velocity and helps filters last longer.
Built and customized by the manufacturer
Midi Industrial has close to 30 years of fan development and manufacturing behind it, and we have built our own EC motors for more than 10 years. We size impeller, motor power, and control protocol to your AHU, and we take OEM and private-label orders. Send us your airflow target, external static pressure, and cabinet dimensions. Our engineers work the selection with you rather than handing over a catalog number.
Control System and PLC Connection
Cleanroom controls often sit in a central PLC cabinet that also tracks room pressure and filter status. The EC fan's built-in driver talks to that cabinet directly, with no external VFD in between.

Control Input |
Motor Terminals |
PLC Connection |
|
0-10V analog |
VSP, GND |
PLC analog output; 0V = minimum speed, 10V = full speed |
|
PWM |
PWM, GND |
PLC pulse output; 0-100% duty cycle sets speed |
|
Modbus RTU / RS485 |
RSA+, RSB- |
PLC or HMI as Modbus master; reads status and alarms, writes speed |
All three options can be wired from the same PLC cabinet. 0-10V is the simplest wiring for a single speed command; Modbus RTU is chosen when the PLC or BMS needs two-way data, run status and fault feedback.
