What the YUW is
Backward-curved blades sit on the YUW wheel for a reason. Unlike forward-curved multi-blade wheels that suit low pressure and high volume, a backward impeller holds its efficiency better when system resistance drifts - filters load, coils ice over, dampers close partway. The YUW Backward Direct-Drive Centrifugal Impeller is supplied as an impeller-motor assembly for central air-conditioning units that the cabinet builder mounts inside their own enclosure, not as a fully cased fan.

Design notes
The wheel couples straight to the motor shaft through direct drive. No belt, no sheave, no tension adjustment, fewer items that can wear out in years of continuous running. The backward blade profile also tends to shed dust and lint more readily than a forward-curved wheel, which keeps performance stable between cleanings - a useful trait in units with return-air filters that accumulate debris over a season. Wheel diameters run from 280 to 630 mm, so this assembly spans small AHUs up to medium commercial cabinets.

Typical fits
YUW assemblies commonly go into central air-conditioning units, AHU cabinets and ventilated boxes for commercial and light-industrial rooms. If your static pressure target sits above the low end of the range, the backward-curved wheel will run quieter and easier than a forward multi-blade alternative. Midi Industrial supplies this impeller to HVAC fan manufacturers and retrofit projects that replace worn wheels inside existing casings, where the direct-drive shaft mounting fits the original drive line.
