A plug fan changes how you build an AHU. There is no volute scroll around the wheel; the motor and impeller cartridge slide into a section of the air handling unit, and the casing itself forms the air path. Why the wing blades
Each blade has an airfoil-like wing profile instead of a flat or forward-curved shape. Because there is no scroll housing to shape the outlet, the wheel itself carries more of the aerodynamic load, which is why the airfoil profile matters here more than it would on a cased centrifugal fan. That wing-type profile pushes air more efficiently through the unit and keeps blade passage noise lower - noticeable on fresh-air and return-air fans that run for long stretches. Direct drive connects the wheel straight to the motor: no belts, no sheaves, no tensioning, and the cartridge still pulls out as one piece when filters or bearings need service, without cutting the ductwork apart.

Since this plug fan is unhoused, confirm the casing section length, the opening dimensions and the weight capacity of your slide rails before fixing a diameter. The SYWA suits central air-conditioning units, large fresh-air handlers and ventilation systems in commercial buildings, malls and industrial halls.
